It will provide information concerning a forthcoming book on the the ethical use of contraceptives, based on an interdisciplinary research report coordinated by the Wijngaards Institute for Catholic Research, and summarised by the Catholic Scholars Declaration on the Ethics of Using Contraceptives which was launched at the United Nations in September 2016, gaining worldwide media attention and support.

The collection of essays by well known Catholic theologians, biologists and ethicists will re-examine the teachings of the 1968 papal document Humanae Vitae: On the Regulation of Births prohibiting as always immoral any use of the so-called “artificial” contraceptives.

It will be launched at a press conference in Dublin, Ireland, in August 2018, both to mark the 50th anniversary of the publication of that papal document, and to coincide with as Pope Francis’ visit to Ireland.

More information concerning both the book and its international launch will be provided as soon as possible.
